It’s the most wonderful time of the year … holiday time! The air is crisp and there are twinkly lights galore. What I love the most is giving gifts that people can actually enjoy and won’t eventually collect dust. So, I often like to make homemade treats and give them to my friends, co-workers and neighbors as gifts. This is also an easy gift for teachers, school bus drivers and school crossing guards. To add the special thoughtful detail, I like to add labels to the gifts. I designed these (download below) or you can make your own custom and personalized labels.
This year, one of the treats I’m going to pass out is holiday bark. It’s such an easy recipe and there are so many options and flavors you can choose from. I decided to experiment with dried fruit, nuts and seeds, but honestly, you can top the bark with so many things.
Here are some creative topping ideas:
- Dried fruit: blueberries, cranberries, raisins, cherries, apricots, apples
- Nuts: walnuts, pecans, cashews, pistachios, peanuts
- Seeds: sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds
- Coconut flakes
- Candies: M&Ms, candy cane, Andies Candies, caramel, toffee, candy bars
- Graham crackers
- Potato chips
- Coarse salt
- Cayenne pepper
- Rice Krispies
- Gingerbread cookies
- Baking sheet
- Festive gift bags
- Parchment paper
- OL350 – 2.5″ Circle Labels
- Free printable
- 2 Tbsp of coconut oil
- 1 bag of chocolate chips
- Your favorite toppings
Step 1: Melt coconut oil and chocolate chips in the microwave. Stir often.
Step 2: Pour melted chocolate on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper.
Step 3: Pour your favorite toppings into the melted chocolate.
Step 4: Place the baking sheet into the refrigerator or freezer until chocolate hardens.
Step 5: Print out labels.
Step 6: With a knife and your hands, break the bark into smaller, uneven pieces.
Step 7: Place your treats in little festive gift bags.
Step 8: Stick your labels on the bags for a special touch.
