It’s always fun to jazz up a basic staple, like butter, with unique sweet and savory flavors. You can spread these tasty butters on toast, bagels, pancakes, banana bread and baguette slices for a weekday breakfast or Sunday brunch or serve them as a nibbler when friends come over. These butters also make a great gift (the holidays are coming up!) or make a variety of different flavors and bring them to a pot luck party or give as a hostess gift. It would also make a great appetizer for Thanksgiving.
This recipe is so simple. It really only takes literally a few minutes to make and is inexpensive yet gives an air of sophistication, especially when you offer a variety of flavors. (It’s a perfect nibbler to make when you’re trying to impress someone – like your in-laws or boss.)
For this blog post, I focused on sweet butters (my favorite), like blueberry, strawberry and honey. Here are some examples of flavors that you may enjoy, including savory and spicy that you can experiment with:
- Garlic and herb
- Lemon and herb
- Roasted red pepper
- Basil pesto
- Lemon and dill
- Bacon and cheese
- Jalapeno and lime
- Walnut and blue cheese
- Cinnamon and chili
- Cinnamon and sugar
- Maple and pecan
- ½ cup of butter
- ¼ cup of berry jam or fillings
(*The amount really depends on the size of your jar or container.)
- Mixing bowl
- Mini glass jars
- Food processor or mixer

Step 3: Print out labels from home printer.
Step 4: Place labels on the jar.
Step 5:Place the jars in the refrigerator so the butter hardens.
