I’ve come up with an adorable and easy spring kid craft made out of mini M&M tubes. It’s a butterfly craft made with labels and cardstock (both available at onlinelabels.com). You can use this butterfly kid craft as a party favor, party invite, class gift, teacher gift or a “just because” gift.
It really only takes a couple of minutes to make, but it looks really thoughtful, colorful, and sweet. They are as much fun to give out as they are to make. They are also really easy for young children to create as well.
What’s really cool is that Onlinelabels.com has labels to exactly fit mini M&M tubes. You can create a whole slew of insects like dragonflies, bees or even ladybugs.
If your child isn’t into rainbows, you can make your own labels any color you want using the Maestro Label Designer.
- Mini M&M tubes
- Glue dots
- Pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- OL162 – 3.75″ x 4.75″ Labels
- OL1025 – 1″ Circle Labels
- OL267KW – White Cardstock – 8.5″ x 11″
- Downloadable printables
Step 1: Peel the M&M label off of the plastic mini M&M tube. (Leave the safety plastic around the lid of the tube, especially if you’re planning to give this as a gift.)
Step 2: Peel the rainbow label off of the backing and carefully stick it onto the plastic tube. Make sure to do it carefully so there are no creases or bubbles on the label.
Step 3: Wrap one pipe cleaner around the top of the tube under the lid. Twist the pipe cleaner twice to help it stay hold. Then create little balls at each end of the pipe cleaner by simply rolling it on top of each other.
Step 4: Use glue dots to stick googly eyes on the plastic mini M&M tube.
Step 5: Cut the butterfly out of the card stock using the scissors.
Step 6: Stick glue dots onto the cutout card stock butterfly. Then place the plastic mini M&M tube onto the glue dots.
Step 7: Decorate the butterfly wings with the 1” rainbow circle labels that you printed out on your home printer.
