It’s almost time for St. Patrick’s Day. You know what that means – it’s time to get lucky with lots of four-leafed clovers, little leprechauns running around and lots and lots of green beer.
So, whether you’re a big green beer drinker or not, we have a DIY craft project that will turn your St. Patrick’s Day green with joy. It’s a DIY St. Patrick’s Day beer mug planter. It’s so easy to create and makes the most adorable decoration or even gift. I also love how the glass beer mug adds a touch of the Irish to this project.
This project is also a fun way to get started with your spring garden, even if you don’t have a green thumb. It’s easy and simple. Also, if you choose the right plant, like these hard to kill philodendrons you may be able to turn that black thumb green.
Here are a few tips about philodendrons. They will give you hints on exactly what they are needing. If it’s wilting, it needs water. Droopy leaves indicate that you are watering it too much. If a few of its leaves start to yellow, it may be getting too much light. Another cool thing about philodendrons is that they don’t even need soil to grow. Simply place them in a cup of water.
- Philodendron (or any other plant you prefer)
- Glass Mason Jar Mug (I purchased these at Michaels – don’t forget your 40% off coupon)
- Wooden skewers or stirrers
- OL199 – 2.3605″ x 2.5027″ Shamrock Labels in Green
- OL1025 – 1″ Circle Labels in Gold Foil
- Free printables
Step 1: Download and print out the printables on these 1” circle gold foil labels. Then, peel one off the sheet and stick the label at the end of the skewer. Next, peel off a second label and stick it to the back of the first label, sandwiching the skewer/stirrer in between.
Step 2: Plant your philodendron or another plant into the glass mug.
Step 3: Stick the label skewer/stirrer into the plant.
Step 4: Stick the shamrock label onto the mug.
Happy St. Patties Day! Don’t forget to wear green!
