Autumn is in the air. Can you feel it? There is an extra crispness that wasn’t there a few weeks ago. In Florida, where I live, I can feel it mostly in the early morning or in the late afternoon. Either way, Autumn is here. To celebrate, I made these tasty and actually kind of healthy cinnamon maple pecans.
I love these because they are an easy little gift to pass out to party or wedding guests as favors. They are also a sweet, “Happy Friday” treat to give to co-workers or a “Just Because” gift to your kid’s teachers or mailman.
I also created a cute label to place on the package for an extra detail and dose of sweetness. If you’re going to give a gift to someone, take an extra few moments to go all the way and think about the packaging as well.
This recipe is extremely easy to make. It took me about 15 minutes to coat and roast the pecans on my skillet. It’s also gluten free, dairy free and Paleo. Of course, it’s not nut free.
- 5 Tbsp coconut sugar
- ½ tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
- 6 Tbsp of maple syrup
- 4 tsp of coconut oil
- 4 cups of pecan halves
- Wax or parchment paper
- Plastic bags (These are from Party City.)
- OL 330 2” x 2” squared labels
- Free downloadable printable
Step 1: Whisk together the maple syrup, cinnamon, coconut sugar and salt in a small bowl.
Step 2: Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on a cookie sheet.
Step 3: In a large skillet and over medium heat, melt coconut oil and mixture until smooth. It won’t combine all the way.
Step 4: Add pecans to the pan. Stir until all of the pecans are coated with the sugar mixture. Let it sit so the pecans can soak in the sugar. Stir occasionally making sure it doesn’t burn. Do this for about 5 minutes.
Step 5: Pour the pecans onto the lined cookie sheet and let cool for at least 30 minutes.
Step 6: Print out your labels.
Step 7: Stick your labels onto your plastic bags.
Step 8: Fill your bags with pecans.
Step 9: Pass them out to friends.
