With this DIY, you’re sure to get an A+ from your child’s classmates. Best part? It’s so easy to do. These adorable cupcakes are sure to get plenty of “oohs” and “aahs” from your child’s teacher as well.
Plus, if your child is anything like mine, he will be excited to get into the action and make these with you the night before the classroom party. My son loves sharing DIY treats with his friends and will spend a long time to make sure everything is just right. He always feels so special and proud when he brings a tray of goodies into his class. These cupcakes will be no exception.
(I went with the red labels for this project. But actually, you could choose from a variety of colors from pink (neon and pastel) to white. If you wanted to throw a different color into the mix other than red, pink, and white, blue is always a nice complimentary option for Valentine’s Day as well.)
Step 1: Press a heart label to the bottom of your paper straw.
Step 2: Take a second heart label and press it onto the back of the first heart.
Step 3: Take off the cupcake liner and push your straw through the middle of your cake part of your cupcake. Don’t slip it through the frosting or it will just fall out.
Step 4: Try to clean off the straw as best as you can. It will have cupcake residue all over it. Stick a rectangular label on the bottom of your end of the straw.
Step 5: Stick a second rectangle label on the top of the first one.
Step 6: Snip the rectangle labels to look like feathers. Don’t forget to cut fringe to the feather to give it a more realistic look.
