Since my husband is of Irish descent, we love celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in all its green-hued glory! While most of our festivities center around food, my boys and I also enjoy decorating with a few banners and flags to mark the day as well. It doesn’t get easier than this St. Patrick’s Day Banner!
- Gold Shamrock Labels from OnlineLabels.com
- Green Pennant Flags
- Small Clothespins
- Thin Ribbon
- “Sláinte” Free Printable (optional)
To make this banner in just minutes, peel the Gold Shamrock Labels from OnlineLabels.com and stick them in place in the center of the pennant flags. String up the ribbon and attach the flags with the miniature clothespins. It’s your decision on whether or not to apply shamrocks to both sides of the flags. It’s unnecessary if you plan on hanging the banner on a wall or against a piece of furniture. I hung mine from an entry archway in my house so I applied the stickers to both sides since people would see it as they were coming and going.
The great thing about this project (other than it only takes a few minutes to make!) is that you can easily work on this banner with even the youngest of children. Having kids peel the stickers off the sheet is great for fine motor skills while sticking the shamrocks in the center of the flag helps improve spacial recognition. They’ll love seeing their creation hung in the house for all to enjoy!
I personally love the look of the solid gold shamrocks against the oh-so-Irish green but thought it would be fun to have the traditional saying “Sláinte” printed on the stickers as well! Just in case you want to give the words a try on your banner, I thought I would offer the free printable for your personal use. If you don’t use them on the banner, the gold Sláinte stickers could be used for tons of different St. Patrick’s Day ideas!
