How to Make Your Own Art Piece Using Circle Labels

A few months ago, I was lucky enough to tour OnlineLabels.com’s warehouse. It’s massive! From floor to ceiling, there were reams of labels with every color and shape possible. I walked around and my creative spirit got so excited. There are so many possibilities with these labels.

Not only do I blog, but I’m also an artist. So, I thought I’d make an art piece using some of the labels. You can decorate your office or home with this art piece or even give it as a gift to a friend. It’s so fun and simple to make!

Here is how I did it:

Step 1: Prep your art piece by drawing horizontal lines 1.5” apart with your ruler. When making my art, I always draw lines on my canvas before I start. If you do this, you’ll make sure your labels are in a straight line and not crooked. If you don’t do this, you may have to start over a few times due to the unevenness of your lines.

Step 2: Peel the labels off their backing and stick onto the canvas. The first line of labels needs to wrap around the top edge of the canvas. Place the labels side-by-side. Fold the labels at the corner of the canvas like you’re wrapping a birthday present.

Step 3: Layer the second line of labels slightly on top of the first row. Don’t forget to stagger the labels instead up lining them up directly on top of each other. Also, don’t stop at the edges of the canvas. Wrap the labels around the side to give your art piece a complete look.

Step 4: Repeat this process until you fill the canvas with labels. Just be sure you don’t put two labels of the same color next to each other. Also, make it more interesting and randomize the colors.

Step 5: Smear a thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the labels with a foam brush. If you use too much Mod Podge it will wrinkle the labels. This final step will make sure none of the labels peel off the canvas.
